This gives you access to the beautiful Preston River where you will find a swinging bridge over the river, you will also find that the amphitheatre is made from the local Donnybrook stone. The amphitheatre was constructed by Mr Les Combes who donated his time to add to the beauty of the area. Within this area you will find the War Memorial Free barbeques and plenty of grassed area for picnics and the kids to play. |

6kms from Donnybrook. The Old Goldfields Orchard and Cider Factory is reached by travelling along Emerald Street and onto Goodwood Road. (This is the scenic drive to Capel.) Just out of town, whilst still in the 60kmh zone, follow the signs and turn left onto Upper Capel Road and left again onto Goldfields Road. Park at the Cafe/Restaurant, pay your admittance fee of $2 for adults, receive a map, and enjoy a stroll around the orchard and lake. Climb the poppet head and try your luck panning for gold in the troughs provided. The kids will love feeding the miniature horses (if available) and walking in the mine adit (horizontal shaft). It's well worth the $2 entrance fee. |
